Your Finances and Your Front Entry

Feng Shui Shows How They are Linked for Prosperity

The condition of your front entry has a direct correlation to your finances. Find out how using Feng Shui prinpciples.

In Feng Shui, chi is life force that is in everything in the Universe and can either contribute to your wellbeing or not. The ideal Feng Shui home is one in which chi can funnel through the front door and meander through the home, nourishing all residents and their life aspirations. For this reason, the front door is called the "Mouth of Chi."

All opportunities, in every area of life, funnel through the Mouth of Chi, including opportunities for financial success. Below are a few exercises to help you establish the vitality of your Mouth of Chi. In these simple exercises, try to be objective, or muster support from a very good friend who can "tell it like it is."

Exterior Mouth of Chi

Stand at the curb and observe what you see. Does your home have curb appeal? Is there vitality in the lawn and garden? Are the shrubs and trees vibrant or dying? Are the garbarge cans visible? Are the windows and screens clean? Are walkways free of debris? Is your home's facade freshly-painted, clean, and tidy? Is your front door visible from the curb, or do you have to enter through a side entrance? Is your front door lit adequately at night? Is the door bell in working order? Does your front door open easily and freely? How do you feel when you look at the space? Are you frustrated, depressed, or happy and proud? Obstructions, clutter, and uncleanliness will dramatically decrease your chance of receiving opportunities for financial success.

It's not necessary to make big investments in curb appeal. Once you objectively observe, make a list of things to clean, patch and fix so you can improve your chance for receiving opportunities.

Once you restore order to the exterior part of your home, you can decide to enhance it by using the 5 Chinese Elements. The Water Element is most associated with the Mouth of Chi. Some suggestions would be to add black or dark color accents or a water fountain or pond. The Metal Element, which supports and produces the Water Element, can also complement this space. You can include objects in colors white or gray or with round shapes, such as a gazing ball, or a metal sculpture, or wrought iron metal furniture.

Interior Mouth of Chi

Now, stand inside your front door. Observe what you see. Do you have piles of unread mail and catalogs stacked up? Are shoes, coats. and school backpacks strewn around? Is there a foul odor? Is the entry hall lit adequately? Is there anything in the way that you need to maneuver around to move into other areas of the house? Does the entry look clean? Is the entry freshly-painted an appealing color? Is there a welcome mat or rug? Are all lights in entry in working order? How do you feel when you look at the space? Are you frustrated and depressed, or happy and proud?

Then, as above in the first exercise, make a list of things you need to clean, patch and fix so you can improve your chance for receiving opportunities.

Once you restore the entry area to order, you can choose to enhance it with the Water or Metal Elements.

  • For Water: you can add objects with black or dark colors or incorporate a wavy pattern in an area rug, drapery or whatever you bring in. You can also add a small water fountain or fish tank (what Chinese restaurant doesn't have a fish tank by the entrance?)
  • For Metal: you can add objects with colors white or gray, or circular/round shapes such as a round light, round area rug, or globe. You can also add objects of metal, such as a sculpture or metal table.

Doing these simple exercises can dramatically improve the way you feel about your space, how others will appreciate your home and will provide an avenue for financial opportunities to find their way into your home.
